Senior Full Stack Software Engineer
Bloom (Gaia Learning)
Gaia Learning is looking for a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to take day-to-day technical ownership of Bloom, its live online education platform for young people with SEND and EHCPs. This is a hands-on role working across the product, API, cloud infrastructure and delivery pipeline.
What you’ll own
- Full-stack product development across a React and TypeScript single-page application and PHP API.
- Google Cloud environments and infrastructure-as-code, with strong security and UK data-residency controls.
- Test-gated builds, deployments and production alerting.
- Engineering standards covering testing, type safety, accessibility and security.
- Architectural decisions for a platform handling children’s special-category data.
What they’re looking for
- Substantial experience building and operating production web applications across frontend and backend systems.
- Strong TypeScript, React and server-side PHP experience.
- Relational data-modelling and safe database-migration experience.
- Cloud infrastructure ownership and infrastructure-as-code skills.
- Security-minded engineering and clear written communication.
- Confident, considered use of agentic coding tools such as Claude Code.
Location and working pattern
This is a permanent, full-time, UK-based remote-first role. Bloom would prefer someone in Brighton or within commuting distance, with the expectation of co-working with the CTO in Brighton one or two days a week.
Salary and benefits
The salary is £60,000. The role includes 31 days of holiday including bank holidays.
