SussexDigital

Where Sussex’s digital community meets

About SussexDigital

I didn’t set out to build SussexDigital.

Back in 2008 I had a simple thought: surely there must be other people nearby doing the same kind of digital work as me. So I put a message out on Twitter, met a few people in a bar, and that was that.

Those early meetups slowly grew into something more. A few years later WorthingDigital became a thing, and since then we’ve run over 150 events and met hundreds of people. Some genuinely brilliant things have come out of it.

But there’s always been a bit of a problem.

Getting the word out is hard. I still hear people say “I didn’t know this existed” when they finally turn up to something. And I know it’s not just WorthingDigital. There are loads of great communities, events and spaces across Sussex doing interesting things, but they’re not always easy to find unless you already know where to look.

That’s really what SussexDigital is about.

It’s a simple idea: bring together the communities, events and coworking spaces that already exist, and make them easier to discover. Help more people find their way in. Help organisers reach a wider audience. Help the whole thing feel a bit more connected.

This is just the start. There’s plenty more that could sit here over time, but I’m beginning with the bits I care most about, communities and events. Ultimately, it’s about people. We’ll see where it goes from here.

If you find it useful, great. I’d love you to get involved! If you’ve got thoughts, even better. I’d genuinely love to hear them.

Let’s build something worthwhile together.
