Application Support Developer

Bupa is recruiting for the role of Application Support Developer. The Application Support Developer responds to and resolves IT incidents, events, requests and queries to help provide an exceptional experience for Bupa Global system users. The role also develops code to project and business requirements, supports complex issues, and acts as a technical expert within the IT team.

What you’ll do

• Resolve IT incidents and events in line with operational priority, impact and SLAs, escalating where appropriate.
• Investigate and resolve complex, challenging and urgent IT issues and opportunities.
• Act as the technical authority within your domains and keep your skills current.
• Help train colleagues on technologies where knowledge is lacking.
• Help design solutions and ensure code is built securely, performantly and to specification.
• Focus on root cause analysis and long-term fixes for recurring incidents and events.
• Complete IT requests by understanding the business requirement, outcome and suitable technical solutions.
• On-board assigned new IT systems into Production Services and act as the interface with Projects and Vendors.

• Experience working in an IT application support function.
• Experience mentoring peers and more junior staff.
• Expert knowledge of database technologies such as PL/SQL or T-SQL.
• Experience working in a matrix managed environment with mixed teams.
• Experience with a broad range of technologies.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
• Experience with REST API, Apigee, GCP, Java, JSON, SQL, React and Typescript.

Additional role information

• The role works with in-sourced and outsourced IT service providers, including Global IS&T and overseas based managed service functions.
• It involves implementation and change control activities.
• Delivered services should be supportable, with appropriate monitoring, alerting, tooling and reliability.
