Product Owner

Legal & General is recruiting for the role of Product Owner. This role leads a strategic Data Streaming Platform within Data Operations, setting its direction, roadmap and delivery outcomes. It focuses on platform stability, onboarding data sources, and improving how operational data reaches the Retail Data Hub and other data platforms.

What you’ll do

• Define and communicate the platform vision, strategy and roadmap.
• Own and prioritise the technical product backlog.
• Improve platform stability, resilience, scalability and operational performance.
• Drive the onboarding of new data sources and platform consumers.
• Balance new features, technical debt, modernisation, risk and regulatory priorities.
• Lead engineers and technical delivery colleagues through clear priorities and outcomes.
• Influence senior stakeholders and create alignment around investment and delivery decisions.
• Define and communicate measures of platform adoption, performance and business value.

• Have proven experience owning a technical IT product, platform or shared technology service.
• Be accountable for product direction, roadmap, prioritisation and delivery outcomes.
• Bring strong Agile experience within engineering or technical delivery teams.
• Manage technical backlogs and balance competing delivery priorities.
• Influence senior stakeholders and make evidence-based decisions.
• Understand platform resilience, service performance and technical sustainability.
• Work independently while building alignment across multiple teams.
• Communicate clearly and show sound judgement and a collaborative leadership style.

Additional role information

• The platform moves operational data from source systems into the Retail Data Hub and other strategic data platforms.
• The role supports important digital customer and business services.
• You will work closely with engineers, architects, DevOps colleagues and senior stakeholders.
• You do not need to be a hands-on engineer.
