Senior External Game Designer – 6-Month FTC – (UK Only – Remote/Hybrid-Brighton)

FuturLab is recruiting for the role of Senior External Game Designer – 6-Month FTC – (UK Only – Remote/Hybrid-Brighton). This role is for an experienced game designer to oversee the design of multiple externally developed projects, working closely with the Design Director and providing direction to external teams. It also involves supporting internal projects when needed.

What you’ll do

• Own and maintain the design vision and quality of externally developed game projects.
• Work with internal stakeholders so projects align with product, franchise and company goals.
• Define design goals, pillars, principles and requirements for each project.
• Identify and document success criteria for each project.
• Provide clear verbal and written feedback throughout development.
• Review design documentation, specifications and feature designs at implementation level.
• Work with external designers to solve design problems and improve the gameplay experience.
• Assist with design work on internal projects when needed.

What they’re looking for

• Have a passion for playing and creating games.
• Have worked as a Game Designer on at least one commercial game from conception to completion.
• Have excellent understanding and working knowledge of the Unity game engine.
• Have demonstrable level design experience.
• Provide detailed verbal and written feedback for other designers’ work.
• Have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise effectively with all game development disciplines.
• Have a deep understanding of game design and mechanics.

• The contract is described as a 6-Month Fixed Term Contract.
