Hello,
Over the last couple of weeks I’ve spent quite a bit of time thinking about what SussexDigital is actually trying to achieve.
When I started building it, the idea was fairly simple: create one place where people could discover everything that’s happening across Sussex’s digital community. Events, communities, coworking spaces and opportunities already existed, but they were scattered across dozens of different websites, newsletters and social media channels. Bringing them together felt like it would make them easier to discover.
The more I’ve worked on it, though, the more I’ve realised that’s only the beginning.
What excites me now isn’t simply collecting information… It’s helping make Sussex’s digital economy more visible. Every week I come across companies I’d never heard of, communities doing fantastic work, events taking place in parts of the county that rarely appear on the digital map, and organisations quietly making a real difference behind the scenes. There’s far more happening across Sussex than most of us ever get to see.
I think there’s an opportunity for SussexDigital to become the front door to Sussex’s digital economy: helping people find what’s already here, make new connections and find opportunities they might otherwise have missed. Not by competing with the excellent organisations already doing that work, but by shining a light on them and making them easier to find.
The website is just one part of that. Over time, I’d like SussexDigital to do more than help people discover what’s happening. I think there are opportunities to bring people and organisations together, support collaboration and help strengthen the ecosystem in practical ways where it makes sense. Those ideas are still taking shape, but it feels like a natural evolution rather than a change in direction.
You’ll probably have noticed one small step already with the introduction of the jobs section. It’s not intended to become another job board, but another way of helping people discover opportunities that already exist across Sussex.
I’d love to know what you think. SussexDigital has always been shaped by the people who use it, and I suspect the next stage will be too.

Brighton Blockchain’s regular Wednesday meet-up is back at The Southern Belle. It’s a casual social evening, with no set structure, and the listing is explicit that newcomers are welcome alongside people already working with blockchain, Web3 and DeFi.
The Farm Digital Freelancers Meetup
